Forrest undertook the survey, design, supply, installation and connection of a 250kW roof mounted solar PV system to Parrs Wood High School, Manchester. This is one of the largest single storey roof solar PV installs in the UK.

The system incorporated 961, 260w modules and is expected to generate 200,925kW of energy per year, as well as avoiding 119,096kg of carbon annually. Based on generated power, that is enough for over 4million hours’ worth of TV per year.
The school is home to 2000 pupils. We developed a detailed programme that worked around the schools’ existing commitments, such as open evenings, exams and the half term break.

As part of the Solar Schools initiatives, we also installed an electric car charging point for the school, which is powered by the PV system.
